Dental Research Centers

Dental research is conducted in fully-equipped laboratories designed to provide faculty and students with the opportunity to engage in innovative dental research, using state-of-the-art equipment and technology. The following is a list of the dental research centers on campus:

Biomaterials Research Center

The Biomaterials Research Center is comprised of two labs and has approximately 2500 square feet of research space. One lab is located across the street from the Dunn Dental Building in the Molecular Science Building. The other portion is an extension of the Bioscience Research Center located in the Dunn Dental Building specializes in materials testing. This center houses the department's SEM.

Bioscience Research Center

The Bioscience Research Center has approximately 2000 square feet of research laboratory space. The Center serves as a core facility to support research in the College and it provides the base for a group of basic dental research scientists.

  • The Bioscience Research Center is located in room N102 of the Dunn Dental Building at 875 Union Avenue.

Clinical Research Center

The Clinical Research Center is a private clinic designated solely for clinical research projects. The facility consists of approximately 300 square feet of clinic space, with three dental units, a consultation room, and a separate office workspace.

Craniofacial Research Center

The Craniofacial Research Center has approximately 5,000 square feet of research laboratory space.

This Center is another core dental research facility and serves as a base for a group of basic dental research scientists in the Department of Bioscience Research.

Stem Cell Research Center

The Stem Cells and Regenerative Treatments Research Center has approximately 900 square feet of research space. This research laboratory is part of the interdisciplinary basic and translational cancer research that is being conducted by College of Dentistry, College of Medicine, and College of Pharmacy faculty and staff.

Dr. George Huang has been working on stem cell research for more than ten years and here at UTHSC is currently researching in the areas of stem cell characterization and stem cell-based tissue regeneration.
