College of Medicine Tour Guide Program
Prior to signing up to become a Tour Guide, please make sure that you will conduct a minimum of three (3) tours.
By sharing your valuable time, to speak with applicants who will be interviewing for medical school, you can make a big difference in the many reasons why these applicants will look forward to joining our campus community in August! If you need more information or would like to volunteer, you are invited to the "kick-off" meeting Friday, September 27 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm in the General Education Building GEB A103. An e-mail will be sent from Diane Harris, Admissions Coordinator with specific details.
Agenda items to be discussed at the Tour Guide "Kick-Off" Meeting:
- Your responsibility as a Tour Guide.
- Gaining access to tour guide Information. [password protected]
- Dealing with difficult questions.
- The tour guide schedule.
- Occasional undergraduate tours requested, e.g. St Jude POE, University of Memphis, UT Knoxville, etc.
- Only a minimum of three (3) tours are requested per cycle, but many will do more.
- Inclement weather.
- Reading tour guide e-mails.
- What you need to know to conduct a tour.
- GEB gross anatomy lab guidelines.

- "Kick-Off" Tour Guide Program meeting will be held Friday, September 27 in the General Education Building (GEB) A103 from 12:00 pm to 1 pm. See the right side of this web page to open the PDF brochures of the Tour Guide Program, Fast Facts and the designated tour guide maps for complete information (documents may be password protected).
- The AED group from UT Knoxville, the SNMA group from MTSU will be scheduled to visit our campus in the near future.
- Applicant interviews are conducted on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from October until April. An e-mail will be sent weekly from Diane Harris, Admissions Coordinator to ask you to provide your tour guide date(s), i.e., third and fourth year medical students. First and second year medical students will need to notify the lead admissions ambassadors dates you wish to sign-up. A friendly reminder will be e-mailed weekly to notify tour guides of their assigned tour(s) from Diane Harris, Admissions Coordinator.
- It's never too late to sign-up! E-mail your tour guide date(s) to Diane Harris, Admissions Coordinator.
- If the University is closed, due to inclement weather, applicant interview appointments will be honored. However, you will not be expected to conduct your scheduled tour. You will also be notified when tours are cancelled.
