Grievances

An individual who believes they have been discriminated against on the basis of their disability, or who feels that the University is out of compliance with their obligations to people with disabilities under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act, as amended (ADAAA), is encouraged to work with UTHSC to resolve their concerns informally. In the event that such difficulties cannot be resolved informally, students can avail themselves to UTHSC’s formal grievance processes.

Informal resources for resolving grievances:

  • Discuss with the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Academic Support Services and Inclusion (SASSI) Kathy Lovett – 901.448.7746 or kgibbs@uthsc.edu

Formal means for resolving grievances:

  • File a complaint with the Associate Vice Chancellor for Access and Compliance. Michael Alston – 901.448.2122 or malston1@uthsc.edu
