COHP COVID-19 Update: March 16, 2020

All,

It has been a difficult several weeks as we follow the progress of COVID-19 around the globe, in the United States and here in Tennessee. We are working to try and respond reasonably and responsibly to this evolving, and sometimes surprising, health crisis. Protecting our students, staff, faculty and the community from the Coronavirus is an ongoing and evolving process that will require constant communication with each other. The AFSA Office has launched a website https://uthsc.edu/afsa/academic-continuity/index.php that will be updated regularly and will include the latest academic announcements from the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor. 

As an academic health science center with students engaged in course work, ongoing clinical rotations and patients who need our help, UTHSC must continue operations and meet the varying needs of our constituents. We will spend the next couple of days moving into a modified operations status that will maintain the safest, most well-organized and productive environment for all of our constituents. I’ve been in constant communication with the program directors to keep you informed. Program Directors will be reaching out to you with announcements, plans, and action items in the days ahead. Please bear in mind that while we continue our work, we must each focus on ways to flatten the curve and minimize opportunities for this virus to spread.

Please continue to watch your email for additional announcements and updates as this rapidly changing situation evolves. We know this situation is unprecedented and will require flexibility, understanding and the ability to quickly adapt.
