PGY5 Pediatric Ophthalmology trainees can perform the procedures listed below with indirect supervision:

Differential Procedures: 

PGY5

1.     Clinical History

2.     Physical Examination Including:

        Intraocular Pressure Assessment

        Gonioscopy

        Depressed Dilated Indirect Ophthalmology

        Ultrasonography

        IV Fluorescein Angiography

3.     Corneal scraping for cultures

X

4.     Probing of the nasolacrimal system

X

Laser Procedures:

 

1.     Yag laser capsulotomy

X

2.     Yag laser peripheral iridotomy

X

3.     Argon laster trabeculoplasty

X

4.     Panretinal photocoagulation

X

Surgical Procedures:

 

1.     Repair of lid and conjunctival lacerations

X

2.     Biopsy of lid an conjunctival lesions

X

3.     Anterior chamber paracentesis (for diagnosis or intraocular pressure control)

X

4.     Tarsorrhaphy of eyelids

X

5.     Lateral canthotomy and cantholysis

X

6.     Intravitreal injection for endophthalmitis or ocular neovascularization

X

 

All other surgical procedures are performed under the direct supervision of a faculty member.
