On July 1, 2012, the Office of Research at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) initiated a fee for review of animal care and use protocols by principal investigators who, when conducting research outlined in the protocol, act on behalf of institutions other than UTHSC (e.g., corporate entities and other institutions that may utilize UTHSC services related to animal use compliance).
The fee will be $500 for review of any new protocol or its third annual renewal. Fees will also be assessed for major modifications to existing protocols since these require re-review. Minor modifications made during the three-year life of a protocol will not be subject to additional fees. The review fee will be assessed at the time of protocol submission or the submission of a major modification. For details regarding protocol revisions, please see: http://www.uthsc.edu/research/research_compliance/IACUC/docs/MajorMinorRevsIACUC_6-1-2012.pdf.
