Research Services

The CTU offers individualized fee-based research services for the development, set-up, initiation, quality control, financial management, and closeout of clinical research trials for investigators. Based on the investigator’s need, there are options ranging from full-study support to customized services. 

Various services available to UTHSC-affiliated investigators include:

  • Research Nurse Coordinator and Non-nurse Coordinator support to facilitate site management of day to day implementation of clinical trials
  • Budget preparation and contract negotiations (CDA, CTA, and amendment processing)
  • Prospective reimbursement analysis
  • Invoicing and tracking of payments
  • Institutional Review Board submissions
  • Guidance in regulatory compliance issues and adherence to federal regulations
  • Training of investigators in the conduct of clinical research
  • Liaison services to sponsors and off-site clinical locations to identify investigators for new clinical trials and support facilitation of interaction with sponsors and contract research organizations
  • Assessment of trial feasibility for interested investigators
  • Use of Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS) for comprehensive study management and to facilitate financial reporting
  • Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved research laboratories
  • Assistance with completion and management of regulatory documents
  • Coordinator attendance of investigator meetings with principle investigators
  • Assist with development, training, and monitoring of existing department or new research personnel
  • Coordination of site qualification visits, site initiation visit, and monitor visits for all new clinical trials
  • Access to appropriate clinical space, laboratory facilities, and equipment
  • Multiple large meeting rooms available for study specific visits, monitoring, and training

An advantage of the Clinical Trials Unit is our ability to travel. We are capable of providing contractual clinical research services at any physician’s clinic that is within easy driving distance from our offices. The CTU currently supports clinical research services throughout the Memphis area including:

Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS)

Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS) is a web based system we use to track all clinical trial services and provides us the ability to generate invoices, track study payments received, and study earnings per trial.
