The University Behavioral Health Center is the new clinical and academic home of the Department of Psychiatry and is located at 920 Madison Avenue on the second floor. It houses the offices of the faculty and residents in the outpatient clinic.

Founded in 1922, the Memphis VA Medical Center (VAMC) is affiliated with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and is one of UTHSC's primary adult teaching hospitals.  It offers quality healthcare for the changing medical, surgical, and quality of life needs of the Mid-South men and women who so proudly served our nation.

For the 196,000 veterans from 53 counties in western Tennessee, northern Mississippi, and northwest Arkansas, the VAMC offers a variety of services for both physical and mental health needs.  New programs include those for traumatic brain injuries, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and suicide prevention.

The Memphis VA hospital provides treatment to acutely disturbed psychiatric patients on a 23-bed psychiatric service that is staffed on a multidisciplinary basis by the Department of Psychiatry, Division of Psychology, College of Nursing, and School of Social Work. Resident assignments include the psychiatric inpatient and outpatient services, consultation-liaison services, alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs, and medical inpatient services, including neurology.

Regional One Health (ROH) was established in 1829, making it the oldest health system in Tennessee.  In addition to being the home of the Elvis Presley Trauma Center, Regional One Health also includes Centers of Excellence in Burn, High-Risk Obstetrics, and Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU).  

ROH is the largest medical and surgical teaching site for the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.  More than half of Tennessee's doctors will receive some, if not all, training at ROH.  The partnership between Regional One Health and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center includes the UT Regional One Physicians group, the largest teaching physician group of its kind in the Mid-South.

Regional One Health is a large metropolitan hospital complex staffed by the UTHSC faculty that gives psychiatry residents their first systematic exposure to crisis intervention techniques in the active psychiatric emergency room. Psychiatric consultation is also provided to medical and surgical units.

The Memphis Mental Health Institute (MMHI) has been providing person-centered psychiatric care in a therapeutic, supportive, and compassionate environment to Memphians since 1962.  MMHI is an authorized TennCare provider that often assists patients with severe mental illnesses that don't have access to other resources through the private sector.

Patients may be hospitalized on a voluntary or involuntary basis to receive assistance from the staff of psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, therapists, and coordinators.  The doctors and staff work with patients to help them transition back into the community after treatment.

Founded in 1969, the mission of Lakeside Behavioral Health System (LBHS) is to provide specialized behavioral health care and addiction treatment to those wishing to heal.  It's 345 acre, 345-bed facility is fully accredited, state licensed, and Medicare certified.

Inpatient and Outpatient services are provided for those with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, dementia, bi-polar, schizophrenia, and other mental illnesses.  Lakeside offers weekly on-site support groups for depression, bi-polar, AA, and NA.  It also offers training classes and workshops on suicide prevention. Fellows learn the basics of acute inpatient psychiatry, to comprehensively assess and treat children and adolescents who are acute, with different modalities including crisis management, pharmacology, individual family and milieu therapy.
