The fellowship schedule has been set up for inpatient and day hospital rounds in the mornings and outpatient clinics in the afternoon.  The inpatient rotations are 6 months at Memphis VA Medical Center and 6 months at Lakeside Behavioral Health System

Lakeside Behavioral Health System is a private teaching hospital owned and operated by Universal Health Services and includes Brunswick Place for Older Adults, a state of the art 40 bed unit.  ECT and TMS is offered to inpatients and outpatients, conduced and taught at the facility by our Associate Faculty.  The Day Hospital operates at Lakeside Behavioral Health System where the fellow and their attending faculty will follow patients while in that level of care.

The Memphis VA Medical Center is a teaching facility offering the inpatient experience to include med-psych and psychiatric rehab experience and the opportunity to collaborate and interface with Medicine, Neurology, Neuro Psychology, Pharmacists, Surgery, and Psychiatry. The outpatient geriatric psychiatry clinic provides initial evaluation, follow-up, medication management, consultation, and psychotherapy for seniors and their caregivers.  Genomic testing is conducted at the clinic.

The Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center offers a complete experience and prepares fellows for practice and the ABPN board examination.  We have many fine mentors who will guide and instruct you in research, education and future job opportunities.  The educational experience include 4 hours of didactics weekly, presentations, journal club, case conference and grand rounds.

Memphis has a long tradition of medical experiences.  The city offers a great environment for personal and family leisure activity, great neighborhood, and schools.
