Craniofacial

Comprehensive 1-year Fellowship
Robert Wallace, MD, Cranofacial Fellowship Director

The Craniofacial fellowship provides an in-depth experience with both congenital and acquired craniofacial deformities. The fellow will be involved in the clinical experience at Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. There is a three month rotation during the one year period with Dr. Eric Arnaud in Paris, France for a concentrated experience in the treatment of craniosynostosis and congenital cranial malformations.

Applicants

Applications accepted through SF Match. You must also complete and submit a CAS application form. Completion of an accredited Plastic Surgery residency is required.

UTHSC only accepts J-1 Visas at this time. All applicants, including International Foreign Medical Graduates, who have passed USMLE parts 1, 2 and 3, are welcome to apply.

Applications open June 2017 with a deadline of July 31, 2017 for the academic year beginning July 2018.

Interviews are held between September 1 and October 31, 2017.

Microsurgery

Comprehensive 1-year Fellowship
Petros Konofaos, MD, Microsurgery Fellowship Director

The Microsurgery fellowship provides in-depth experience with breast, head and neck, and extremity microsurgery. The fellows are involved with surgical cases at Methodist Health University (MUH) and Baptist Memorial Hospital (BMH). Opportunities to participate in perforator flap, robotic-assisted, hand and upper extremity, facial reanimation, and cosmetic surgery are available. Interest in research, international travel, and moonlighting can be accommodated.

Applications accepted through SF Match. Completion of an accredited Plastic Surgery residency is required.

Burn

Comprehensive 1-year Fellowship
William Hickerson, MD, Burn Fellowship Director

The Burn fellowship provides clinical education in burn critical care and all aspects of burn surgery including reconstruction is offered through a 14-bed Burn Center located in Memphis’ large tertiary referral hospital, Regional One Health (ROH). Research activity is encouraged and supported. The Burn Center is staffed by plastic surgeons and the burn fellow is strongly encouraged to participate in the Plastic Surgery Program including Grand Rounds, Journal Club, clinics and operative procedures.

Call

No regular at-home call but may be required to cover free flaps, craniofacial, or burn cases taken back evenings and/or weekends within the Duty Hour requirements.
