Resident Education

Residents in Pediatrics and Medicine-Pediatrics regularly participate in elective rotations on the Pediatric Pulmonary, Sleep, Allergy, and Immunology service. This rotation is also available for visiting residents from other programs and interested medical students. The major focus of the rotation is to allow residents the opportunity to see new pulmonary referrals with common problems such as recurrent pneumonias, chronic wheezing, chronic cough, and abnormal chest radiographs and allow the resident to develop an approach to evaluation of these problems that can be used in their later practice.

In addition, residents get the opportunity to participate in special research or literature review projects on problems that the resident identifies. The resident will learn about pulmonary function testing, including interpretation, and about advance pulmonary function testing such as infant lung function testing, exercise testing and bronchoscopy.
