For over 40 years, Methodist South Hospital has been providing services for the residents of Whitehaven and surrounding areas.  It's services includes a 24-hour emergency room, a certified chest pain center, women's services, a diagnosis center, and a comprehensive wound healing center.

The Radiation Oncology Department treats approximate 1300 patients annually and evaluates about 1500 patients annually. We offer a comprehensive line of radiation oncology services. At the Midtown location, Methodist University Hospital (MUH), there are two linear accelerators (megavoltage). Multidisciplinary, specialty care is practiced where site specific faculty provides most care for their disease subtype. There is a Gamma Knife at the MUH location where intracranial Stereotactic Radiosurgery is performed in conjunction with one the largest neurosurgical groups in the nation – Semmes Murphey. Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy is offered at our MUH location where we use a linear accelerator based model (Elekta) with image guided radiation therapy, stereotactic immobilization and specialized quality assurance. All of the machines perform Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy and Cone Beam CT. We offer a comprehensive brachytherapy program including High Dose Rate (HDR) brachytherapy for prostate, breast, cervix, and endometrial cancers as well as Low Dose Rate (LDR) interstitial brachytherapy for prostate cancer. 3D ultrasound, MRI fusion and CT simulation is used as appropriate to deliver high end brachytherapy. Our radiation treatment planning platform is Pinnacle and we use Gamma Plan for intracranial SRS planning. Further, we perform many I 125 eye plaque brachytherapies in conjunction with opthalmology at our MUH location.
