Laura Owens Simmons, a native of Memphis, TN, received both her BSN and MSN with a focus in Maternal Child Nursing from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She received a PhD in Educational Psychology and Research from The University of Memphis in 2006. She has 30 years of experience as a nurse and over 20 years of experience as a nurse educator at Arkansas State University and The University of Memphis.
Laura joined the faculty at UTHSC in June of 2016 as Assistant Professor in the department of Acute and Tertiary Care. She received the Daisy Award for teaching excellence in 2015 and is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) through the National League for Nursing. She a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, serving as chapter officer, and the Association of Women’s Health and Neonatal Nursing (AWHONN).
