Curriculum Vitae

 Dr. Melaro is an Assistant Professor in the Psychiatric Mental Health (PMH) Concentration in the Advanced Nurse Practice and Doctoral Studies Department since November 2014 and assumed the role of PMH Concentration Coordinator in July 2015. Her teaching responsibilities are in the areas of family and psychiatric nursing in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program.

She is a dually certified practitioner in both Family and Psychiatric Mental Health advance practice areas. Her clinical foci are integrated behavioral health and health promotion in the Severely Mentally Ill population. Her practice responsibilities include coordinating care with Psychiatric, Family, Women 's Health and Pediatric practitioners with an emphasis on Patient Centered Medical and Health Home outcome measurement and practice improvement.

Dr. Melaro's present practice involves us telehealth to deliver integrated behavioral services to three federally qualified health centers in West Tennessee. Past practice experiences were in primary care, outpatient community mental health, inpatient alcohol and drug detoxification, and emergent psychiatric treatment settings. She is a consultant for two Health Services and Resources Administration grants involving education of advanced practice nursing students/practitioners and delivery of integrated behavioral health services.

Dr. Melaro is a member of Tennessee Nurses Association; Sigma Theta Tau, Beta Theta Chapter; American Psychiatric Nursing Association and Greater Memphis Area Advanced Practice Nurses Association.
