Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Carolyn Graff has extensive experience in health care and expertise in quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research with diverse populations. Her research has focused on children with or at risk for developmental and chronic health disorders, their caregivers and family members, and health professionals and students working with these populations. Government, foundation, and institution grants have provided significant funding to support these research efforts and programs resulting from her research. Her research is complemented by teaching doctoral courses in nursing theory, philosophy of science, qualitative research methods, and mixed methods research and mentoring doctoral students in nursing and health policy. She has received local and national awards recognizing her research, teaching, and public service. Her administrative responsibilities include serving as the director of the Nursing Science PhD program and as research coordinator in the Center on Developmental Disabilities.

Dr. Graff serves as a manuscript reviewer for Advances in Nursing Science, the Journal of Pediatric Nursing, and Qualitative Health Research. She has published in more than  70 peer-reviewed journals and published four books and 20 book chapters. She has presented her research and scholarly work at more than 300 international, national, or local meetings. More than 100 of these presentations were invited. Dr. Graff is a member and fellow of the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and supports professional organizations through membership in the American Nurses Association, American Public Health Association, International Society of Nurses in Genetics, Mixed Methods International Research Association, Sigma Theta Tau International, Society of Pediatric Nurses, and Southern Nursing Research Society.
