Lisa Cox joined the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, College of Nursing in December 2013. Her practice focus is the Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Concentration. Teaching responsibilities include courses and clinical placement in the Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Concentration, and assisting with Advanced Health Assessment and Leadership and Health Policy courses. Lisa has 25 years of nursing experience with 15 years as a Family Nurse Practitioner and 3 years as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. She has been working in the psychiatric field since 2007 while working on her DNP in the Psychiatric/Mental Health Concentration. She has worked in private practice (FNP with adults and children and PMHNP with adults), inpatient psychiatry (adults and children), day treatment programs, and substance abuse. She has worked in nursing homes providing geriatric medication management for psychotropic medications. Lisa has served as an adjunct faculty member at UTHSC working with students in mental health clinical rotations. She has also served as a preceptor for students in the FNP and DNP (Psychiatric/Mental Health Concentration) programs.
