Center for Community and Global Partnerships

Our mission is to develop sustainable partnerships with health systems in Memphis, the Mid-South, and throughout Tennessee; advance integrated health care systems; reduce health disparities;
and improve health outcomes.

The center offers education and support for evidence-based practice, nurse preceptors, graduate nurse programs, nurse scholar programs, nursing fellowships, and quality improvement. Our services are individualized to meet the specific needs of your staff and patients. The center is under the direction of Sara Day, PhD, RN, FAAN.

Evidence-Based Practice Services

  • Assist with developing and implementing an evidence-based practice program
  • Enhance evidence-based practice knowledge and skills to improve quality of care and patient/family outcomes
  • Provide site assessment to establish evidence-based practice needs
  • Assist staff in translating evidence-based practice into the practice setting

Nurse Preceptor Services

Provide preceptors education and training on the following topics:

  • Preceptor role
  • Novice to expert
  • Learning styles and adult learning
  • Components of effective preceptorship
  • Competency evaluation
  • Crucial conversations and conflict resolution

Quality Improvement Services

Support for specific interventions to improve nursing quality indicators, including falls, pressure ulcers, central line catheter-associated blood stream infections and urinary catheter-associated infections

  • Methods of program evaluation
  • Support for evidence-based practice projects

Nurse Scholar Program

Objectives of the nurse scholar program include:

  • Recognize nursing’s key role in the generation and dissemination of knowledge
  • Develop quality improvement and evidence-based practice skills
  • Develop and implement initiatives and projects relevant to clinical and quality needs of your institution
  • Develop and advance innovative strategies to build and strengthen nursing practice
  • Gain knowledge and skills specific to the patient population you serve
    Continuing Education
    Our center is an accredited provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center Commission on Accreditation). We offer a variety of courses for nurses at all levels of practice.

Post-DNP Nurse Practitioner Fellowships

The UTHSC College of Nursing will collaborate with your institution to establish a Post-DNP Nurse Practitioner Fellowship. The 12-month fellowship program provides opportunities to expand clinical skills by working with interprofessional teams to facilitate optimum health care outcomes, manage symptomatology and complications, broaden scientific background, and extend the potential for clinical research.
