Institutional Accreditation

The University of Tennessee is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to award baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral degrees.

Program Accreditation: Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)

The baccalaureate degree in nursing/master's degree in nursing/Doctor of Nursing Practice program at The University of Tennessee is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Anesthesia

The DNP Nurse Anesthesia program is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs through 2019.

Tennessee Board of Nursing Approvals

The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program in the College of Nursing is approved by the Tennessee Board of Nursing. The Tennessee Board of Nursing granted the College of Nursing initial approval to reactivate the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program November 30, 2012 with students enrolling Fall 2013 in the BSN program. The College of Nursing will submit an application for full approval of the BSN program upon graduation of the initial BSN cohort in December 2014.

Accreditation History

The BSN program was previously accredited by CCNE in 1976 until it was held in abeyance. The BSN program hosted a CCNE on-site evaluation in September 2014 with verbal exit report indicating all accreditation standards were meet.

CCNE accredited the MSN program Sept. 25, 1999. The most recent accreditation was April 27, 2009. The MSN program is accredited through Dec. 31, 2019.

The DNP program was initially accredited April 27, 2009 by CCNE. The DNP program is accredited through Dec. 31, 2014. The college hosted a CCNE on-site evaluation in Feb. 2014 with verbal exit report and written report indicating all accreditation standards were meet.

Electronic Campus

The UTHSC College of Nursing is a member of the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) Electronic Campus for distance education courses, programs and services offered through many institutions of higher education in the southeastern United States.
