Wins Four
Awards at 2010 VOX Competition
____________________________________________________
Memphis,
Tenn. (November 2, 2010) – On October 27, the UTHSC Communications and Marketing
Department earned three VOX Awards (first place) and one Gold Award certificate
(second place) for work submitted in the Public Relations Society of America
Memphis Chapter Annual VOX Awards. The 2010 competition drew more than
100 entries, which were judged by members of the PRSA Little Rock Chapter.
The seven-member UTHSC
Communications and Marketing team earned a glass VOX statuette in each of these
three categories: (1) Campaigns: Marketing Communication/Promotion: Services
(More Than $7,500): Won for the Right Here in Memphis campaign; (2) Writing:
Feature/Profile: Won for the feature article on Bloody Tears; (3) Print
Tactics: News Release/Feature: Won for the feature article on Bloody
Tears. The second-place Gold Award certificate was earned in the
category: Campaigns: Brand Management/Reputation (More Than $7,500): Won for
the Right Here In Memphis campaign.
“These awards are
truly the result of a collaborative effort and a consistent commitment to
quality work,” said Sheila Champlin, director of Communications and
Marketing. UTHSC’s Right Here in Memphis marketing campaign was launched
in January 2009 and has included promotion through online and print ads, radio,
billboards (standard and digital), trolley and airport signage, and television
commercials. The campaign was developed in 2008 in conjunction with Walker
+ Associates, a full-service, Memphis-based marketing, advertising and public
relations agency. To learn more about the Right Here in
Memphis campaign, visit http://www.uthsc.edu/news/righthereinmemphis.php.
“In addition to the
four awards we won, our Right Here in Memphis campaign was selected as a
finalist for the top award of the year -- the Grandis Award,” Champlin
noted. “Although one of our health care partners -- Le Bonheur Children’s
Hospital -- took home the Grandis Award, it’s important recognition that the
committee thought the Right Here in Memphis campaign worthy of selection as a
Grandis Finalist.” VOX participants do not submit entries to the Grandis
category. Only the awards committee can select entries for Grandis
consideration.
