UTHSC WELCOMES NEW COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR
Memphis, Tennessee
(May 2, 2006) – Effective May 1, 2006, Sheila T. T. Champlin became the new
communications and marketing director of the University of Tennessee Health
Science Center (UTHSC).
Champlin
began her 24-year career working for two major money-center banks in New York City, Chase
Manhattan and Irving Trust. In 1984, she
joined Ogilvy Adams & Rinehart, one of the world’s largest public relations
firms. After a nearly nine-year stint with them, she became vice president and
director of corporate communications for Prudential Securities, Inc., director
of marketing communications for AT&T Capital Corporation and finally, vice
president of communications for Scholastic Inc. all New York City area firms. She moved to Memphis to start her
family in 1996, and for the past 10 years she has been active as a
communications consultant to a variety of corporate, small business, non-profit
and individual clients.
Champlin
holds a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia
and graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a bachelor’s in communications from St. Louis University,
St. Louis, Missouri. She is currently on the National
Board of Directors for Alpha Sigma Nu, the honor society for graduates of
Jesuit colleges and universities.
