Mona Wicks, Research Expert at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center

College of Nursing, Named to National Review Group for Health Disparities Studies

Memphis, Tenn. (March 2, 2010) – Mona Newsome Wicks, PhD, RN, professor and associate dean for Research in the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Nursing, has accepted an invitation to serve on the newly created Health Disparities and Equity Promotion (HDEP) study section of the National Institutes of Health through December 2012.  The HDEP Study Section reviews research applications from across the nation where the primary purpose is to address, reduce or eliminate disparities and improve equity related to health risks, access to care, treatment, or health and health-related outcomes.  These applications focus on systematic factors contributing to health disparities, as well as those specifically aimed at health equity improvement in a particular sub-population or sub-populations of interest.  For more information, visit:  http://cms.csr.nih.gov/PeerReviewMeetings/CSRIRGDescriptionNew/HDMIRG/HDEP.htm
