Information Technology Services is always working on multiple projects that help advance the missions of the university. This list reflects the major projects we recently completed, currently are working on, and are planning for the near future and the tangible benefits of each for our customers. Return to this list periodically to see the exciting things we are doing to enhance your teaching, learning, research, and clinical practice!

All necessary work to complete the following projects has been defined and a completion date estimated based on that work, available resources, and other constraints. Please note the completion estimate for any project is subject to change based on a number of factors.

Project Category Definitions:

  • Mandatory: A project whose output is required by the government, UTHSC administration, or UT administration
  • Technical Infrastructure: A project whose output maintains or enhances the services, systems, and facilities that enable ITS to fulfill its missions; may be a new initiative or an enhancement
  • New Initiative: A non-technical infrastructure project that creates a new product, service or result for the university
  • Enhancement: A non-technical infrastructure project that upgrades the functionality or features of an existing product or service

College of Medicine clerkship scheduler upgrade College of Medicine Updates the current clerkship scheduler to meet student and administrator needs; streamlines the process for adding clerkship schedules into Banner
Data protection framework Information Technology Services Increases the security of UTHSC data by standardizing the approach for implementing systems that will create, process, store, and output protected health information

College of Dentistry Implements electronic health record system that will securely house patient records and handle insurance claims

Safety database Research Safety Helps university meet regulatory requirements and increases campus safety by implementing a software that tracks the presence and usage of radiological, chemical, ad biological materials
Student service revocation Academic, Faculty, and Student Affairs Increases the security of UTHSC data, the network, and other computing resources by immediately eliminating access to university services for students who withdraw, are dismissed, are deceased, or fail to attend
Urology database Department of Urology Increases the usability and functionality of an application that tracks patient cases and diagnoses for research purposes
