Information Technology Services is always working on multiple projects that help advance the missions of the university. This list reflects the major projects we recently completed, currently are working on, and are planning for the near future and the tangible benefits of each for our customers. Return to this list periodically to see the exciting things we are doing to enhance your teaching, learning, research, and clinical practice!

  • Mandatory: A project whose output is required by the government, UTHSC administration, or UT administration
  • Technical Infrastructure: A project whose output maintains or enhances the services, systems, and facilities that enable ITS to fulfill its missions; may be a new initiative or an enhancement
  • New Initiative: A non-technical infrastructure project that creates a new product, service or result for the university
  • Enhancement: A non-technical infrastructure project that upgrades the functionality or features of an existing product or service

Banner: XE upgrade Academic, Faculty, and Student Affairs Provides a more user-friendly interface as well as added flexibility and functionality to the student information system
College-specific transcript report Registrar’s Office Facilitates the automation of the degree audit process
CompCo billing system replacement Information Technology Services Ensures continuing ability for ITS and other departments to audit and recover telecommunications and project charges (CompCo software to be retired by vendor in 2015)
Disabilities Services management application Student Academic Support Services Streamlines the processes of applying for, tracking, reporting, documenting, and assigning accommodations, which facilitates student success, retention, and graduation
Disaster recovery/business continuity plan Information Technology Services Facilitates continued operation of the university following a disaster by ensuring that UTHSC data is preserved and accessible and a plan is in place to direct the appropriate people to take the proper actions after an event occurs
Encryption software (Trend Micro) Information Technology Services Protects UTHSC data during storage and sharing as well as in the case of computer theft or loss
Human Resources: : Educational Assistance Online Forms Human Resources Simplifies the educational assistance process by directing employees to the appropriate forms, allowing them to fill out the forms online, and digitizing the form authorization process
iStart (Sunapsis international population management system): Phase II Office of International Affairs Provides online access for sponsoring departments and international scholars to complete necessary paperwork
IT service catalog Information Technology Services Provides a categorized web listing of all services that Information Technology Services delivers, with a brief user-friendly description and other pertinent information (ex., cost, availability, how to get started, etc.) for customers
Library website redesign Library Increases website security; adds desired functionality; reduces technical back-end work for the customer
