Division of Infectious Diseases

The UTHSC Division of Infectious Disease consists of 13 full-time faculty dedicated to the clinical, educational and research missions of the division. Our inpatient clinical programs benefit from the rich and diverse patient populations served by our three primary teaching hospitals, Regional One Health, Methodist University Hospital and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

We are fortunate to practice and teach outpatient infectious diseases in a model interdisciplinary clinic dedicated to the care of HIV-infected patients. Our fellowship training program has been continuously accredited by the ACGME for decades and our ID fellows have achieved a 100% pass rate on the ABIM subspecialty board exam. Research programs in the division range from patient-based clinical research to basic laboratory investigation.

The division enjoys a national reputation for its clinical and educational programs and is recognized nationally and internationally for our research programs in streptococcal diseases, bacterial pathogenesis and vaccine development. We invite you to explore our web site to obtain additional information about all of our faculty and activities. If more details are needed, please email me at jbdale@uthsc.edu.
