2013 Administrative Professionals Day

Modern business is a storm. Modern office professionals bring order. (IAAP) The very nature of the role of administrative support professionals is to “be the one”. These professionals are the ones who keep the office running smoothly. Many are the first point of contact both in person and by phone. Others provide valuable support to ensure guideline compliance and that deadlines are met. All have the responsibility to “be the one”.

“Since 1952, the International Association of Administrative Professionals has honored office workers by sponsoring Administrative Professionals Week. Today, it is one of the largest workplace observances outside of employee birthdays and major holidays. There are more than 4.1 million secretaries and administrative assistants working in the United States, according to U.S. Department of Labor statistics, and 8.9 million people working in various administrative support roles. More than 475,000 administrative professionals are employed in Canada. Millions more administrative professionals work in offices all over the world.” (IAAP)

The University administration is pleased to join organizations across the United States in acknowledging the valuable contribution of administrative professionals on the Health Science Center campus by hosting a luncheon in their honor. Faculty, supervisors, managers, and colleagues are also encouraged to acknowledge administrative professionals in their departments.
