Description: The UT HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER (UTHSC) College of Nursing invites applications for the full-time position of Pediatric Surgery Nurse Practitioner in the Acute & Tertiary Care Dept.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The UTHSC embraces four missions: education, research, clinical care and institutional service. Responsibilities for this role include 95% clinical practice assignment which includes: functions as an Advanced Practice Nurse collaboratively with physician leadership of the Pediatric Surgery Department and acts as a change agent for surgery patients by incorporating the role of clinical expert, role model, consultant, educator, practitioner, researcher, and nurse leader; provides clinical expertise to patients and families by providing direct and indirect patient care; collaborates with the healthcare team in assessing, designing, implementing, and evaluating population-based programs of patient care to enhance high quality and cost effective patient outcomes. In addition, 5% educational responsibilities in the College of Nursing will be determined in collaboration with Department Chair.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimal requirements for the position include a current RN and APN license in Tennessee, a Master?s degree or higher in a nursing specialty, and a Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification. All degrees must be from an accredited program. Current DEA certification and three (3) years of clinical practice experience at the RN level. Candidate must have the ability to react quickly to emergency situations; excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills. Academic rank is based upon academic credentials.
