Description: The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) in Memphis, Department of Physiology invites an outstanding scientist with a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degrees for a non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Instructor.

We are searching for a creative research scientist who has extensive experience in knockout and transgenic mouse technology with a special emphasis on atherosclerosis, obesity and thrombosis. Experience in molecular biology techniques such as cloning, construction and validation of shRNA vectors, isolation of adipocytes, isolation of peritoneal and bone marrow-derived macrophages, isolation of platelets, monocyte subtype analysis by FACS, platelet aggregation, adhesion and spreading assays, primary cell culture, site-directed mutagenesis, Western blotting, and immunohistology are required. Knowledge of basic animal handling, mice colony management and breeding is a requirement.

The Department of Physiology has outstanding research facilities. We will consider applicants in all areas of lipid and inflammatory mediator research.
