Description: UTHSC College of Nursing (CON) invites inquiries, nominations of, or applications from candidates for the position of Associate Dean for Interdisciplinary Research (ADR) and Professor in the CON. The UTHSC CON seeks a dynamic and innovative leader to advance the research and scholarship mission of faculty within the CON. An earned nursing degree is not required, rather the successful applicant must possess a doctoral degree with experience and knowledge in clinical research, a track record of R-level funding, a history of working successfully with nurse colleagues, and a demonstrated ability to support the research career of others. The ADR provides leadership in the growth of the CON research and scholarship programs, under the direction of the Dean of the CON, and is a vital member of the leadership team. The intent of this position is to expand the recognition of the UTHSC CON faculty for excellence in scholarship and research. The ADR drives and facilitates interdisciplinary research across sectors of the University with the CON, ensuring involvement of constituents and community partners, as appropriate, to foster achievement of the CON research and scholarship objectives and to foster and sustain program relevancy and improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Qualifies for the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor with previous work experience demonstrating the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
2. Holds Ph.D. or another terminal degree in the health sciences from an accredited university. Maintains a sustainable program of clinically relevant research with a history of R-level grant funding.
3. Displays a proven ability to mentor junior faculty that must be documented on applicant?s curriculum vitae (CV), through collaborative works such as senior authored peer-reviewed publications.
4. Demonstrates experience in collaborating with or including nurses on federally funded research, pilot work, and publications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Administrative experience supervising grant preparation, budget management, compliance, and reporting.
2. Strong record of research funding through the National Institutes of Health (NIH), of service on NIH study sections, and/or of leadership of a NIH-funded institutional center.
