Description: The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) is inviting applications for a clinically focused academically oriented gastrointestinal pathologist. Fellowship training is required and practice experience or expertise in liver pathology of up to 1- 3 years is preferred. The successful candidate will join the GI pathology team to sign out a broad array of cases in transplantation, benign and neoplastic liver, pancreaticobiliary tract disease, as well as benign and malignant luminal gastrointestinal disorders. Opportunities to interact research programs in each of these areas exist.

The successful candidate will spend the majority of time at Methodist University Hospital. This is the 617-bed flagship health care facility located in the heart of the Memphis Medical District, which provides pathology services to the nationally recognized Methodist University Hospital Transplant Institute and the West Cancer Center, a comprehensive Cancer; both programs providing advanced clinical care, innovation, and education regionally and nationally. The GI pathologists work closely with the gastroenterologists, surgical oncologists, and liver and pancreas transplantation teams. There is a culture of daily communication and weekly multidisciplinary conferences with an opportunity to discuss challenging cases. The Department has an active residency program. Excellence in diagnostic pathology, teaching and participation in research activities is expected.
