Description: The Preston Medical Library at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine in Knoxville, Tennessee, is seeking applicants for a Clinical and Research Services Librarian. This is a faculty appointment, with rank to be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

This position provides medical reference services in the library and clinical setting, and will determine information requirements and plan the delivery of services to support evidence-based practice. This may include attending rounds, department meetings or other forums. This position will represent the library on a Magnet nursing shared governance council by attending meetings and offering support to nursing staff. This position will provide a systematic review service, to include consultation, literature searching, and authoring the methods section of manuscripts. Other services will include: staffing the reference desk; developing education programs; developing research guides; using reference software; maintaining reference statistics; providing outreach to the community and information for the Consumer and Patient Health Information Service; initiating and participating in research, scholarly activities, and regional and national medical library organizations; and other duties as need is determined.

Required: Master's degree from an ALA accredited library school; two years of experience in a health sciences library; experience working in a clinical setting and searching National Library of Medicine's PubMed; strong service orientation, self-motivation and the ability to multi-task; comprehensive knowledge of library reference sources; experience designing library instruction classes and developing supporting materials; demonstrated analytical, written and verbal communication skills; the ability to work as part of a team; Medical Library Association Academy of Health Information Professionals certification required within a year.

Preferred: Experience as a clinical or liaison librarian. Systematic reviews training. Demonstrated experience in providing patient education and teaching graduate students in the health sciences.
