Description: The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Department of Radiation Oncology, is recruiting for a full-time board certified/board eligible Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist at the Assistant Professor or Professor level (tenure or non-tenure track). The candidate must be highly motivated in pursuing an academic career in Medical Physics. Responsibilities will include patient care, teaching and clinical research. External grant funding is encouraged.

The Department is affiliated with The West Clinic, Methodist University Hospital, and the University of Tennessee West Cancer Center.

Radiation Oncology Services for Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare include a facility in Midtown at Methodist University Hospital and a remote location in Germantown. The midtown location has 2 linacs (Siemens Oncor and Elekta Synergy), an HDR suite (Nucletron), and a CT big bore simulator (Philips). We use Philips Pinnacle Treatment Planning System with Mosaiq treatment software at both locations. We also use Nucletron Oncentra Brachytherapy Planning System for the HDR suite in Midtown. We provide external radiation treatment (including IMRT, IGRT and VMAT), HDR Partial Breast Brachytherapy (60/yr), HDR Vaginal Cylinder Brachytherapy, HDR Tandem and Ovoid Brachytherapy (70/yr), Prostate Brachytherapy (35/yr), and Eyeplaque (80/yr).

Our Germantown location is located in a freestanding clinic at 1381 South Germantown Road. This location has one linac (Elekta Synergy) and a CT big bore simulator (Siemens). We provide external radiation treatment (including IMRT, IGRT and VMAT) at this facility.

We have 4 full-time physicists including a Chief Physicist, a Board Certified Staff Physicist, two Junior Physicists, three Board Certified Medical Dosimetrists, and a PRN Junior Medical Dosimetrist which service both locations.
