Description: The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, invites applications for a non-tenure track Assistant Professor position.

The successful candidate must have demonstrated strong synthetic chemistry skills and knowledge of medicinal chemistry. Prior experience in industry or an academic drug discovery center with documented knowledge of small molecule drug discovery and development is essential and required. He or she will be responsible for providing expertise in the design, implementation and analysis of laboratory research projects. Additional responsibilities include writing grant applications and manuscripts for peer review, training graduate students as well as presenting research results at national and international meetings.

The candidate will work in strong collaboration with Dr. Wei Li, and work to achieve goals and objectives with internal and external collaborators. Ample collaborative research opportunities within UTHSC will be available and encouraged. Requirement: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or a related field and a minimum of 6 years of small molecule drug discovery. We are particularly interested in a candidate who has industrial experience in small molecule drug discovery and development for cancer. The candidate should be able to work independently and is required to guide the research programs of graduate students; and supervise other laboratory personnel. Candidate should have a strong record of peer-reviewed publications. Applicants should have a demonstrated commitment to diversity and equal opportunity.
