Employee Occupational Services

University Health Services functions as the primary care clinic for all UTHSC employees and their immediate family members (over 18 years old.)

Occupational Health Services of the University Health Services at University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) is a source of convenient and compassionate care for faculty members and staff members with a primary emphasis on a healthy lifestyle and safe work environment.

The clinic is available for a number of services including prevention programs, medical surveillance for those working in areas with identified hazards, a walk-in clinic for evaluation and treatment of work-related injuries, and scheduled appointments for acute primary care.

  • Immunizations
  • FIT testing for TB masks
  • Audiometry
  • Spirometry
  • General physicals
  • Evaluation and management of work related injuries and illnesses
  • Pre-placement and post-offer medical exams
  • Fitness for duty medical evaluations
  • Independent medical evaluations
  • Biological monitoring and medical surveillance exams
  • Periodic health assessments and routine physical exams

Employee Assistance Program

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is designed to provide free, confidential counseling to UTHSC employees and their eligible dependents. Employees and eligible dependents who are experiencing personal or workplace problems should contact Olivia Ralph, Compliance Coordinator, Office of Equity and Diversity, at 901.448.2112 or oralph@uthsc.edu for assistance. Additionally, the state of Tennessee's EAP Program provides free short-term counseling and brief legal advice for regular employees who are scheduled to work at least 75% (30 hours per week) time. The spouse and dependent children of an employee in this category also qualify for the free benefit. UTHSC employees may also contact EAP directly by calling 1.855.437.3486 for assistance.
