May 20, 2016, marked the Hamilton Eye Institute's 45th Annual Alumni/Residents' Day. This program provides a forum for our residents to present clinical cases and research projects, and our faculty to present clinical and basic science research, as well as updates on current practice.

We were privileged to welcome the 26th Kambara Professor, K. Bailey Freund, MD, retina specialist at Vitreous-Retina-Macula Consultants of New York, and clinical professor of Ophthalmology at the New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Freund delivered an outstanding lecture on the topic of "The Pachychoroid Spectrum."

Lecturing UTHSC faculty members included Vanessa M. Morales-Tirado, MS, PhD, assistant professor of Ophthalmology, and Microbiology, Immunology and Biochemistry; Jorge I. Calzada, MD, associate professor of Ophthalmology; and Rajashekhar Gangaraju, PhD, assistant professor of Ophthalmology, and Anatomy and Neurobiology. Dr. Calzada also assigned the cases to be presented by our residents. The event was directed by Hiatt Professor of Ophthalmology and HEI Residency Program Director Natalie C. Kerr, MD, FACS, and organized by associate professor and HEI Special Events Director Mary Ellen Hoehn, MD
