This course has been designed to provide basic knowledge about cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). This course is for dentists who want to understand and apply this advanced technology in their practices, as well as to refresh their knowledge in 3D anatomy, available CBCT systems and softwares. Emphasis will be directed to correctly prescribe and justify these exams in several dental scenarios including implants, periodontics, endodontics, sleep apnea, temporomandibular joints and dental pathologies. By the end of this course, dentists will be able to have the required understanding of CBCT technology, its clinical applications supported by current scientific literature, radiation safety and radiation protection, as well as interpretation of 3D exams. This is a theoretical and hand-on course. A PC laptop is highly recommended to download provided CBCT cases. In addition to training, attendants who complete this course will also receive continuing education units (CEUs) that may count towards state licensure requirements.
