Mark R. Patters, D.D.S., Ph.D.

Dr. Patters is a native of Akron, Ohio and he received his B.S. and D.D.S. from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He received his Certificate in Periodontics and a Ph.D. in Oral Biology from State University of New York at Buffalo. Dr. Patters joined the faculty of the College of Dentistry in 1988 as Chair of the Department of Periodontology, a position in which he served until 2003. Previously, he was Director of Advanced Education in Periodontics in the Department of Periodontology at the University of Connecticut.
Renata Gillispie

Ms. Gillispie’s educational background includes over five years of experience in various capacities in higher education and a Master’s degree in Student Personnel Services from the University of Memphis. She began her career at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in November 2007 and came to the College of Dentistry in the Office of Academic Affairs in October 2009. She is primarily responsible for the educational documentation for the College including class scheduling, student promotional status and ADA academic statistical reports. She provides staff support to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs relative to administrative searches, curriculum projects and student events. She is also a member of the Southern Association for College Student Affairs (SACSA) and the American College Personnel Association (ACPA).
Ruth Swift-Macklin

Ms. Swift-Macklin is a native of Lexington, Tennessee and holds degrees in English Education, Secretarial Studies (Legal, Medical and Executive), and has received the Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) distinction. She has been affliated with the College of Dentistry for the past twenty years serving in the capacities of Principal Secretary in the Department of Biologic and Diagnostic Sciences and as Executive Secretary/Administrative Aide in the Office of the Dean. Currently, she provides assistance in the Office of Academic Affairs with the Curriculum Analysis Tools System (CATS) program and staffs all academic committee meetings. She is responsible for maintenance of student files, course scheduling, textbooks, elective courses coordination, and provides secretarial support to the Academic Dean.
