Letter from the Department Chair
The Physician Assistant Profession is expanding rapidly, so too are opportunities for new graduates. It truly is an exciting time to enter the PA profession.
We are building a PA program here at UTHSC that is focused on educating graduates who are compassionate, and dedicated to providing care to all populations, and who will contribute positively as leaders in their profession;
and within the communities where they practice.
Our curriculum is comprehensive, and carefully designed to maximize the rich resources within our academic medical center; utilizing teaching models that incorporate problem based learning, team based learning, standardized patients, simulation labs, and interprofessional interactions.
The core of our PA Program's mission is aligned with that of the University of Tennessee, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, and the College of Allied Health Sciences: achieving and maintaining human health.
The decision to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant is a decision to provide a vital service to those in need, that will ultimately bring empowerment to individuals regarding their personal wellbeing; thus, contributing to uplifting humanity as a whole, one patient at a time.
Once you have decided to take this path, choosing the right PA program for you is your next step. Feel free to contact our PA Admissions office for more information about how our program may be the right fit for you.
Best wishes in your career path.
