UTHSC SACSCOC Accreditation Status

Since 1897, the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, has been continuously accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral degrees. As a matter or record, the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and the University of Tennessee, Memphis (as the University of Tennessee Health Science Center was previously named), merged in 2000 for the purposes of accreditation. Prior to this date, the University of Tennessee, Memphis (i.e., the University of Tennessee Health Science Center) was accredited by SACSCOC from 1972 to 2000. In June, 2015, The SACSCOC Board of Trustees awarded separate accreditation to UTHSC (retroactive to January, 2015). The institution will be required to complete a Compliance Certification and Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) for reaffirmation in 2020.
